FIELD: engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to a method for powering machines, such as process compressors in the steam generation circuit of an ethylene producing unit, as well as to an integrated system of an ethylene producing unit and a power plant. The method includes the following steps: recovery of heat in form of high-pressure steam from the cracking furnace; supplying said high pressure steam to at least one steam turbine, wherein the steam turbine is designed for powering a machine such as a process compressor; condensing at least a portion of the high pressure steam in the condenser; pumping the condensed steam as boiler water back to the cracking furnace.
EFFECT: invention aims to reduce the carbon footprint of the energy produced, i.e. the amount of CO2 emitted per kilowatt of energy produced.
