SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in non-destructive testing and studying the micro-relief of reflective surfaces. The waveguide microwave probe contains a source of electromagnetic radiation, a receiver of electromagnetic radiation, and a device for channelling electromagnetic radiation in the form of a thin-walled metal waveguide with an open end. At the open end of the waveguide, there is a meso-sized cuboid dielectric particle with characteristic dimensions on the order of the radiation wavelength in free space, made of a material with a refractive index selected in the range from 1.2 to 1.9. On the flat base of the dielectric particle facing the open end of the waveguide is a matching device that is directly located inside the waveguide.
EFFECT: increased resolution of the waveguide microwave probe while maintaining its energy efficiency and ensuring tightness of the waveguide path.
