FIELD: instrumentation.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to optical and microwave instrument making and concerns control over photon jet position and shape. Method includes generating electromagnetic radiation, making a dielectric particle with a characteristic size comparable to the wavelength of the radiation illuminating the particle, and made from a material with a relative refraction index of not more than 2, irradiating a dielectric particle with electromagnetic radiation and forming a photon jet on its shadow surface. A dielectric particle is selected to have a spherical shape or in the form of a circular cylinder and the particle is rotated in a plane perpendicular to the plane of the illuminating electromagnetic wave.
EFFECT: enabling control of the transverse position and shape in space of the formed photon jet.
