FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: inventions relate to methods for slowing down the deactivation of a catalyst and slowing down the consumption of a tetraphosphine ligand in a hydroformylation process. A method for slowing down catalyst deactivation in a hydroformylation process and a method for slowing down the consumption of a tetraphosphine ligand in a hydroformylation process are described, comprising (a) contacting an olefin with carbon monoxide, hydrogen, and a catalyst containing (A) a transition metal in which the transition metal contains rhodium, (B) tetraphosphine having the following structure:
where each P represents a phosphorus atom, and each of R1-R46 independently represents hydrogen, C1-C8 alkyl group, aryl group, alkaryl group or halogen, and the said contacting is carried out in one or more reaction zones and under hydroformylation conditions; and (b) adding to the reaction zone a monophosphine having the following structure:
where P represents a phosphorus atom, and each of Y1-Y3 independently represents an aryl group, an alkaryl group, a cycloalkyl group, a benzyl group, a C3-C8 alkyl group, an alkoxy group of 1-8 carbon atoms, an aryloxy group, or a halogen.
EFFECT: slowing down the deactivation of the catalyst and slowing down the consumption of tetraphosphine ligand in the process of hydroformylation.
