FIELD: microwave devices.
SUBSTANCE: multibeam klystrons (MBKs), which use magnetic focusing systems (MFS) on permanent magnets to focus electron beams. The klystron MFS contains two magnetic brackets mounted on opposite sides of rectangular magnetic pole pieces. Each of the brackets contains two radially magnetized permanent magnets in the form of a parallelepiped, connected by a magnetic core, magnetized in opposite directions and installed in such a way that the edges of the magnets are extended into the magnetic field focusing space beyond the end surfaces of the pole pieces. Samples were made at the edges of the magnets facing the focusing space and protruding beyond the end surfaces of the pole pieces. The sampling depth in the axial direction does not exceed the distance from the edge of the magnet to the end surface of the pole piece, the sampling height from the plane of the magnet in contact with the pole piece in the radial direction is times 0.5-0.6 the magnet height, and the sampling width is times 0.40-0.55 the magnet width. On the surfaces of the magnets, in contact with the surfaces of the pole pieces, inserts made of soft magnetic steel sheets with a thickness of 0.3-0.6 mm are installed.
EFFECT: improved current flow in klystron channels.
