FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: electrical heating of tanks, pipelines, drainage systems, open areas, heated floors by means of self-regulating heating cables installed on the heated object. The method of controlling a self-regulating heating cable is characterized by the fact that the output of the overcurrent relay is connected to the control coil of the electromagnetic contactor. The electromagnetic contactor turns the heating cable on and off based on a signal from the thermostat. With continuous monitoring of the heating cable supply line current, the voltage is turned off only when the starting current approaches the setting value of the thermal release of the circuit breaker.
EFFECT: starting current of the heating cable reduced to the nominal level and reduced time to reach the nominal mode.
