SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the production of graphite-like colloidal particles. The method for producing a colloidal form of carbon-containing particles includes the exfoliation of shungite under the action of an electric current in an electrolyte, which is an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide with a concentration of 0.1-0.3 mol/l. To two electrodes with the same surface area made of shungite, a rectangular alternating voltage is applied with a frequency of 0.05-0.2 Hz and a potential of not more than 12 V.

EFFECT: increased lateral dimensions of colloidal particles, reduced specific power consumption and increased productivity of the process.
