FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical industry. Graphite nanoparticles are obtained by electrochemical method. Electrodes made from natural or artificial graphite, whether or not containing a binder, are placed in an electrolyte which is a solution of salts, bases or acids. At least one electrode is made in the form of a drum with a horizontal axis of rotation around which it can move. Said electrode is partially or completely immersed in the electrolyte and has a rigid frame, walls made from material permeable to the electrolyte, and inside the drum there are pieces of graphite having electrical contact with current-conducting lines made in the form of a ring conductor made of platinum wire connected to an electric current source. Intercalation of ions and subsequent exfoliation of graphite particles is carried out by supplying alternating electric current to the electrodes.
EFFECT: increased specific efficiency due to increased working surface of electrodes and provision of possibility to work with graphite articles scrap and wastes, for example, current collectors of electric machines and transport.
