FIELD: communication equipment.

SUBSTANCE: method, apparatus and computer-readable storage medium for distributing available bandwidth in a network (N1) among a plurality of data streaming sessions of communication devices (C1; C2; C3) in a network. The method comprises the step at which the communication device (C1; C2; C3) applies (S320) a bandwidth allocation algorithm using at least one bandwidth parameter to obtain an allocated bandwidth for a data transmission session to be performed or being performed on said communication device (C1; C2; C3), wherein the said at least one bandwidth parameter is derived from data messages exchanged between communication devices of the network and indicates the necessary bandwidth for a data session to be performed or being performed on the communication device from which the corresponding data message is sent, wherein the said communication device is configured to send information messages to and receive information messages from all other devices (C1; C2; C3) of the network (N1), and wherein the information message contains bandwidth allocation algorithm data representing the selected bandwidth allocation algorithm, to be used to provide the allocated bandwidth.

EFFECT: possibility of distributing the available bandwidth in the network.
