SUBSTANCE: invention is related to an optimized coffee container, such as a capsule or tablet, containing coffee ingredients in a particular compressed form, and a method for producing such a container. The method for manufacturing a coffee container (1a-1g) for preparing a coffee drink by injecting liquid into the container includes the step of selecting and providing means (2, 2a, 3a-3g) for the container wall to enclose a predetermined volume of the container. An amount of bulk coffee material, such as roasted and ground coffee particles, is pressed into a coffee pellet under a predetermined pressing force within the volume of the container between the means (2, 2a, 3a-3g) of the container wall. The applied pressing force is set on the basis of at least the given volume of the container and/or a certain type of beverage to be prepared from the provided type of container, while the value of the applied pressing force is set in the range from 0.5 to 15 kN, preferably from 1 to 10 kN.

EFFECT: providing the possibility of optimizing the characteristics of the drink obtained from a certain container by adjusting the corresponding pressing force applied in the manufacturing of the container, based on at least the intended volume of the container.
