FIELD: coffee industry.
SUBSTANCE: compressed tablet for preparing aromatic drinks (1) is disclosed, which is characterized by the volume and amount of compressed ground coffee, has a lateral cross-section having an overall width (Dt) and a generally symmetrical shape relative to the central longitudinal axis (XX), wherein the tablet (1) has an upward-facing section (11) and a downward-facing section (12) with respect to the prevailing flow direction, and also includes an intermediate section (13). It is designed in such a way that it contains: a major portion, constituting at least 60% of the volume of the pressed coffee, located in an area that extends in the transverse direction up to the overall width (Dt), included in the specified intermediate section (13); a second smaller portion, constituting not more than 20% of the volume of the pressed coffee, located in a region that extends laterally to a size smaller than the overall width (Dt) included in the upward facing portion (11), and the ratio between the total width (Dt) and a total height (H) of not more than 5:1, with the intermediate section (13) extending along most of the total height (H) of the tablet. A beverage preparation system including said compressed tablet (1) and a method for its production are also described.
EFFECT: group of inventions makes it possible to obtain a pressed tablet for the preparation of aromatic drinks, in particular coffee drinks, with improved spatial and functional characteristics, improved physical properties in terms of extraction efficiency and physical stability of the pressed tablet, improved distribution of most of the coffee mass in relation to the predominant flow direction and, hence, improved extraction efficiency of the specified mass of coffee.
