FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: new chemical compounds that can be used for the treatment or prevention of diseases or disorders associated with the enzyme glycolate oxidase. A compound of formula (I) is proposed, where ring C is selected from structures (Ia) and (Ib), where wavy lines () indicate points of attachment of carbon C1 to carbonyl C(O)-OR1 and carbon C2 to L; L is NRL, S, C(=O), CH2-Q or Q-CH2; where Q is O, NRL or S; RL is hydrogen, C1-2 alkyl or benzyl; ring A is C4-8 cycloalkyl, C8-11 spirocycloalkyl, 5-8 membered heterocycloalkyl containing 1-2 nitrogen atoms, imidazolyl, triazolyl, thiazolyl, thienyl, benzothiazolyl, indolinyl or isoindolinyl; ring B is present or absent; wherein: when ring B is present, then ring A is optionally substituted with methyl; when ring B is absent, then (i) ring A is substituted with one RAB group; or (ii) ring A is unsubstituted when ring A is unsubstituted spirocycloalkyl and L is S; RAB is halogen or C2 or C4 alkoxy; ring B, when present, is phenyl or quinolinyl; where each is optionally substituted with one or two RB groups; each RB is independently halogen; cyano; methylsulfonyl; trifluoromethyl; methoxy; C3 alkoxy; trifluoromethoxy; cyclopropyloxy; heterocycloalkyl selected from piperidinyl, pyrrolidinyl and piperazinyl optionally substituted with methyl; or pyrazole; R1 is hydrogen, C1-3 alkyl or C3-4 cycloalkyl; R2 and R3 are independently hydrogen or methoxy-substituted benzyl; and optionally a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. Variants of this compound are also proposed.

EFFECT: proposed compounds exhibit activity in the inhibition of glycolate oxidase.
