SUBSTANCE: invention is related to a control and regulation system for an oxygen level reduction system containing at least one inert gas generator, at least one oxygen concentration sensor, at least one actuator for releasing inert gas, wherein the control and regulation system contains a plurality of signalling communication of control modules, each of which is configured or is configurable in such a way as to enable the performance of one or more control functions, wherein the control functions are distributed to be decentralized between at least two control modules performing signal communication. An oxygen level reduction system and a method for controlling and/or regulating the oxygen level reduction system are also described.
