FIELD: measurements.
SUBSTANCE: method for determining the residual life of potentially dangerous structures for any purpose made of non-ferromagnetic materials experiencing mechanical loads that change cyclically over time. The essence of the invention lies in the fact that the coercive force is determined before and after exposure to a cyclically changing load during pulsating loading cycles in a ferromagnetic sample, which works together with the structure under study made of non-ferromagnetic material. Based on the rate of change of the coercive force in the ferromagnetic control sample, the stresses in it are determined, which are correlated with the stresses in the non-ferromagnetic structure as the elastic moduli of the materials under consideration. This makes it possible to directly determine the residual life of a non-ferromagnetic structure using the proposed dependencies, which will significantly increase the accuracy of determining the residual life of potentially dangerous structures made of non-ferromagnetic materials and the reliability of expert opinions on the possibility of further operation of metal structures.
