SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to assess the development of an unfavorable course of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Markers of the oxidative balance 8-OH-deoxyguanosine (8-OH-dG) and thioredoxin-1 (Trx1), the proinflammatory cytokine IL-17, and the percentage of immunocompetent cells CD4 ⁺ CD126 ⁺ are determined in the blood. The obtained values are substituted into the formula for calculating the risk coefficient (Kr). When the value of Kr≥5.5 c.u., a high risk of COPD progression is predicted. With a value of Kr <5.5 a.u., a low risk of COPD progression is predicted.

EFFECT: method provides a more accurate assessment of the risk of worsening COPD of mild, moderate and severe severity (GOLDI, GOLDII, GOLDIII) by determining the parameters of cellular immunity and the pro-oxidant system and calculating the risk coefficient based on them.
