FIELD: electrical engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a device for controlling a plurality of parallel-connected high-voltage batteries and a method for its use. The device includes: a vehicle control unit that transmits a battery control command, a charge mode operation command, or a discharge mode operation command for equalizing the potential of a plurality of batteries connected in parallel; and a battery unit for receiving a battery control command from the vehicle control unit, monitoring the voltage of each of the plurality of batteries connected in parallel, and operating the batteries in series starting with one of the batteries to control the potential of the batteries so that the potential of all batteries is equalized.
EFFECT: ensuring safe operation, protecting batteries from inrush current and preventing overcharging of batteries when charging and discharging batteries.
