METHOD OF PREDICTING RISK OF HYPOTHERMIA DURING PLASTIC SURGERY TO CORRECT BODY CONTOURS Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC A61B5/01 A61B5/107 A61B17/00

Abstract RU 2806089 C1

FIELD: medicine; plastic surgery.

SUBSTANCE: risks are assessed in a complex of preventive measures consisting of warming the patient 10–30 minutes before the start of general anesthesia, monitoring the air temperature in the operating room, isolating and limiting exposure of the patient’s body, warming of infiltration solutions for injection under the patient’s skin and for intravenous administration, heating the operating table using a point scale for assessing the risks of hypothermia, while the procedure for warming the patient 10–30 minutes before surgery is scored as 1 point. Lack of warming of the patient before surgery, when the patient’s body temperature is 36.0–36.6°C is scored as 2 points; the absence of warming of the patient before surgery and the patient’s body temperature less than 36.0°C is scored as 4 points. Air temperature values in the operating room in the range of 22–24°C correspond to 1 point. Air temperature values in the operating room in the range of 20–21.9°C correspond to 2 points. Values below 20°C correspond to 4 points; the presence of isolation and limitation of exposure of the patient’s body without treating the patient’s skin with an antiseptic solution corresponds to 1 point. The presence of isolation and limitation of exposure of the patient’s body with treatment of the patient’s skin with an antiseptic solution correspond to 2 points. Lack of isolation and limitation of exposure of the body surface while simultaneously treating the patient’s skin with an antiseptic solution corresponds to 4 points. Heating of solutions for subcutaneous infiltration in the range of 38–40°C corresponds to 1 point. Heating of solutions for subcutaneous infiltration in the range of 36–37.9°C corresponds to 2 points; less than 36°C or lack of heating corresponds to 4 points. Heating of solutions for intravenous infusion to 37°C corresponds to 1 point. Heating of solutions to 35–36.9°C corresponds to 2 points; less than 35°C, or lack of heating corresponds to 4 points. Heating of the surface of the operating table to a temperature of 38–39°C is scored as 1 point. Heating of the surface of the operating table to 36–37.9°C is scored as 2 points, heating to less than 36°C or lack of heating is scored as 4 points. After calculating the total number of points for a particular patient, the surgeon makes a conclusion about the risk level of the surgery: if the number of points is equal to or less than 12, the risks of hypothermia are low; if the number of points is equal to 13–14, the risks of hypothermia are medium; with the number of points equal to 15 and above, there is a high level of risk of hypothermia.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to effectively predict the risk of hypothermia during surgery to correct body contours of any degree of complexity.
