SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for decorating a substrate (1), which includes a sequence of the following steps: ensuring the presence of a substrate (1); deposition of a layer (2) of consumable material on the surface of the substrate (1), while structuring the layer (2) of consumable material to form a plurality of cavities (4) in this layer (2) of consumable material to create a decorative or technical pattern (12; 20); removal of layer (2) of consumable material except for the place where the pattern (12; 20) is made. In this case, after structuring the layer (2) of the consumable material, the following steps are performed: deposition of a layer (18) of photosensitive resin on top of the layer (2) of the consumable material; selectively exposing the layer (18) of photosensitive resin to direct exposure to a laser beam or light radiation in places corresponding to the decorative or technical design (12; 20) that should be visible in the layer (2) of the consumable material; removing the photosensitive resin layer (18) and the underlying consumable material layer (2) in places where the photosensitive resin layer (18) was not exposed to radiation; removing the layer (18) of photosensitive resin that remains in places where the layer (2) of the consumable material is to be stored.
