SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the use of a composition containing polyclonal immunoglobulin in the prevention or treatment of an exacerbation in a person with chronic pulmonary disease, where the composition is intended for administration into the respiratory tract of the individual and where the chronic pulmonary disease is a chronic obstructive lung disease (COLD) or where chronic lung disease is bronchiectasis without cystic fibrosis (BBCCF).
EFFECT: reduction of inflammation, stimulation of immune exclusion of potentially pathogenic microbes (bacteria and/or viruses) present in the mucosal layer, and prevention of direct damage to the epithelium, for example, by bacterial exoenzymes and toxins and/or viral replication (release) when applying immunoglobulin on the epithelium of the mucous membrane of the respiratory tract, preventing or treating an exacerbation that may be caused by respiratory tract infections, such as bacteria and/or viruses, in a person with chronic lung disease.
