SUBSTANCE: cytoreduction or destruction of a solid tumor present in humans. A method for cytoreduction or destruction of a solid tumor involves administering to a human tumor one to four cycles of dose units of C. novyi NT spores comprising approximately 1×103-1×105 spores per cycle. Each dose unit of C. novyi NT is suspended in a pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or solution. Moreover, C. novyi NT is effective for cytoreduction or destruction of solid tumors without the introduction of additional anticancer agents.
EFFECT: cytoreduction or destruction of a solid tumor in a patient.
