METHOD OF LASER OBLITERATION OF SUPERFICIAL CONVOLUTED VEINS Russian patent published in 2023 - IPC A61B17/12 A61B18/20

Abstract RU 2806873 C2

FIELD: medicine; vascular surgery.

SUBSTANCE: under constant ultrasound control, the radiation source is introduced by direct traction through a single puncture of the skin by placing a tortuous pathological vessel on an instrument for the entire length of the obliterated vein. An end-mounted quartz light guide with a sharpened end is used as an instrument, during the reverse traction of which a laser effect is applied to the wall of the varicose vein, obliterating it. In a particular case, an end-mounted quartz light guide with a diameter of 950 microns with an end sharpened at 60 degrees is used. In a particular case, the effect on the vein is achieved with the radiation of a solid-state laser resonantly absorbed by water, generating radiation with a wavelength of 1,470 nm and an output power of 6–7 W in a quasi-continuous mode, while the exposure time ranges from 2 to 5 s.

EFFECT: method makes it possible to provide an effective and reliable method of obliterating convoluted tributaries of the saphenous veins due to exposure to the entire length of the pathological vein under ultrasound control with minimal thermal and mechanical effects on the surrounding soft tissue and skin around the treated vein.
