FIELD: carbides.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to methods for producing transition metal carbides, in particular molybdenum, deposited on carbon supports, and can be used in various industries, including for the production of fire-resistant, abrasion-resistant coatings and catalysts. The method for producing dimolybdenum carbide is carried out by applying solutions of sodium and lithium salts of molybdenum, taken in a ratio of 1:1, onto a carbon carrier, followed by drying and calcination in a vacuum oven with a residual pressure of at least 10-3 mmHg at a temperature of 500°C and treatment duration of at least 3 hours. After completion of the synthesis, unreacted salts and soluble reaction products are removed by washing with distilled water, followed by drying and obtaining a film of dimolybdenum carbide on the surface of the carbon carrier particles.
EFFECT: reduction in temperature and simplification of the synthesis process of dimolybdenum carbide.
