FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to development of selective hydrogenation catalysts of furfurol and/or furfuryl alcohol for producing 2-methylfuran. Described is a selective hydrogenation catalyst for furfurol and/or furfuryl alcohol containing 15 wt% of active component, which is molybdenum in carbide form, modified with nickel metal with molar ratio Ni/Mo from 0.1 to 0.5; and 85 wt% carrier – carbon carrier of Sibunit type.
EFFECT: technical result is high activity and selectivity, stability of the catalyst and enabling production of 2-methylfuran with output of more than 90 % with selective hydrogenation of furfurol/furfuryl alcohol.
