FIELD: methods for inactivating viruses.
SUBSTANCE: method for inactivating a virus for use in a continuous process for obtaining a biological agent includes separating the eluate with a biological agent and an active virus using a column and exposing said eluate with said active virus to orthogonal treatment with a low pH of 3.0 to 4.0 and non-ionic detergent Mega-10 simultaneously with the inactivation of said virus. Mega-10 is N-methylglucamide. The time for virus inactivation of the eluate is reduced compared to the eluate treatment time using low pH or Mega-10 non-ionic detergent alone. The virus contains enveloped viruses from a family selected from the group consisting of Retroviridae, Flaviridae, Togaviridae, Coronaviridae, Filoviridae, Rhabdoviridae, Bunyaviridae, Orthomyxoviridae, Paramyxoviridea, Arenaviridae, Hepadnaviridae, Herpesviridae, Baculoviridae and Poxviridae. The concentration of non-ionic detergent Mega-10 is in the range of 0.05-1% (w/v). The biological agent is retained in each case of treatment.
EFFECT: method accelerates the inactivation of the virus up to 3-4 min and is suitable for a continuous process.
