SUBSTANCE: method for the formation of photocathodes and secondary emission coatings in vacuum photoelectronic devices, in particular to control of the photoemissive current of the coating during its formation. The method for recording photoemissive and thermionic currents in the process of forming a photoemissive and/or secondary emissive coating consists in illuminating the photocathode with light radiation from a source when a potential is applied to the photocathode relative to the anode, the light radiation is pulsed and the polarity of the photocathode power supply is changed with a frequency of two times less than the photocathode illumination frequency, and at the same time the photoemission Iph and thermionic Ith currents are calculated. Due to correct separate control over changes in true photoemission and thermionic currents, the possibility of obtaining a photoemission layer with higher sensitivity values is achieved.
EFFECT: elimination of parasitic components in the form of leakage currents through the insulator and ionization currents as part of the recorded photoelectric response during the formation of the photocathode, which makes it possible to separately control the change in the photoemissive and thermionic components of the photoelectric response.
