FIELD: pulmonology; allergology; internal medicine.

SUBSTANCE: used for differential diagnosis of bronchial asthma phenotypes. Blood levels of periostin and procalcitonin are determined. The periostin to procalcitonin ratio index is calculated. When its values are below 3.8, non-allergic bronchial asthma is diagnosed. At values above 3.8, allergic bronchial asthma is diagnosed.

EFFECT: method provides a simpler, more economical and accurate differential diagnosis of bronchial asthma phenotypes by assessing the activity of markers of allergic and infectious inflammation.
