FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to pulmonology, and can be used for diagnosing bronchial asthma in a patient by determining blood plasma arginase-1 concentration. Blood plasma arginase-1 concentration is measured by enzyme immunoassay and patient’s body mass index. Probability of bronchial asthma is calculated by formula: P = (1 – (1 / (1 + e-Z))) * 100%, where P is the probability of bronchial asthma in the patient, e is the base of the natural logarithm – Euler's number, and Z is an indicator calculated as follows: Z = 0.485 * (0.747 * X – 7.171 – Y) – 4.029, where X is body mass index, kg/m2, and Y is arginase, ng/ml. If P is more than 50%, bronchial asthma is diagnosed in the patient.
EFFECT: method enables the accessible and effective diagnosis of bronchial asthma by determining the arginase-1 concentration in the blood and the patient's body mass index.
