SUBSTANCE: tampon has, in fact, even distribution of fibres along its length, inserted end, end intended for removal and longitudinal axis. Hollow for finger with depth constituting at least about 5 mm, is formed on end intended for removal. Nevertheless, compression strength in direction of longitudinal axis, constituting at least approximately 10 Newtons (N) can still be reached. Tampon can be formed by winding absorbing fibrous cloth around arbor for winding; transferring half-finished product into press; insertion of forming needle into one end of half-finished tampon at time when half-finished tampon is placed in set position in process; movement of great number of press sponges towards central longitudinal press axis for half-finished tampon compression and formation of compressed tampon, having hollow for finger, formed in one end of tampon; and pushing compressed tampon from press.

EFFECT: invention allows to preserve sufficient strength of tampon with big enough hollow for finger.
