FIELD: sealing.
SUBSTANCE: invention is related to an O-ring for maintaining a seal and preventing fluid flow through a valve at cryogenic temperatures. The valve includes a valve body, a ball configured to selectively rotate within the valve body, a seat having a seat insert located within the valve body and configured to form a seal with the ball, and a seal located in a cavity formed between the valve body and the seat. The seal includes a seal body having a heel, an upper leg, and a lower leg extending from the heel, and a cavity containing a first cavity portion and a second cavity portion located between the upper elbow and the lower elbow. The first cavity portion includes at least one actuating element, and the second cavity portion may not contain an actuating element or include an actuating element.
EFFECT: flexible cryogenic seal is proposed.
