SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for magnetic resonance T2 relaxometry. The measurement is performed on a magnetic resonance imaging scanner with a magnetic field induction of at least 1.5 Tesla. When acquiring images, either a T2-WI pulse sequence with scanning the same level 6 times, changing the time echo (TE) value from 8 to 120 ms is used, or a T2-WI TSE pulse sequence with scanning the same level from 15 TE values and voxel size of 2×2×5 mm. Then, at the desired slice level, an area of interest is selected. This area is copied and pasted into all images of a given slice with different TEs, recording the resulting average signal intensity (SI) values. The T2 value is determined using the exponential regression equation IS = A*exp(-TE/T2), where A is the signal intensity correction factor.
EFFECT: method provides magnetic resonance T2 relaxometry on any MRI device with a magnetic field strength of 1.5 Tesla, regardless of its configuration.
