FIELD: organic chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: following has been proposed: a method of preparing a catalyst for the production of isopropyl alcohol in the process of liquid-phase hydrogenation of acetone containing nickel in an amount of 13–30 wt.%, applying the active component to gamma-aluminum oxide with a pore volume of 0.4–0.9 cm3/g, followed by heat treatment being drying and calcination, and reductive activation, characterized by the active component being applied from a melt of Ni(NO3)2·6H2O, calcination is carried out in air at a temperature of 200–500°C.
EFFECT: reduction in the stages of catalyst preparation and the production of a catalyst with a high nickel content in one impregnation while maintaining high activity in the process of producing isopropyl alcohol.
