SUBSTANCE: invention can be used to assess the risk of rupture of an abdominal aortic aneurysm. A quantitative determination of circulating endothelial cells is carried out in the blood serum of a patient with a previously established diagnosis of an abdominal aortic aneurysm. The risk of rupture of an abdominal aortic aneurysm is determined by the number of circulating endothelial cells in the patient's blood serum. With a value of 8 or less per 106 leukocytes, the risk of rupture of an abdominal aortic aneurysm is estimated during the current year as low to 3%. If their value is more than 35 per 106 leukocytes, such risk is assessed as high from 6% to 35%.

EFFECT: method provides the ability to predict the risk of rupture of a previously diagnosed abdominal aortic aneurysm without the use of any expensive equipment and regular monitoring of the progression of the abdominal aortic aneurysm, without any additional radiation exposure; by determining the number of circulating endothelial cells in patients with an established diagnosis of abdominal aortic aneurysm, which strictly correlates with the peak stress of the vascular wall associated with the risk of rupture.
