FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of materials processing with a laser beam and surface modification during laser surfacing of alloying compositions and can be used to form an alloyed layer, having high hardness and wear resistance on the surface of articles made from titanium or alloys based on it. Method involves preparation of a reaction alloying mixture, consisting of powdered components in form of chromium or ferrochrome and boron, taken at ratio of weight of chromium to weight of boron from 0.5 to 10 with subsequent application of said mixture on surface of article from titanium or alloys based on it and laser processing. To form additional intermetallic components, the method involves adding to the initial mixture of chromium or ferrochrome and boron additives of aluminum, nickel or alloys based on them or their combination with subsequent laser surface treatment.
EFFECT: enabling the titanium or titanium-based alloy surface alloying process using laser radiation without using complex equipment and chemically active alloying media in the form of gaseous components.
