FIELD: wireless communication.
SUBSTANCE: satellite communication system receives flight plan data for a set of aircrafts, to which a network access service is provided, identifies for each aircraft corresponding suitable satellite beams of a set of satellite beams for providing a network access service, wherein each suitable satellite beam has a corresponding service time range for providing a network access service, receives for each of corresponding suitable satellite beams a beam usage indicator typical for predicted beam usage by the set of aircrafts during the corresponding service time range, selects satellite beams for providing a network access device to each aircraft of the set of aircrafts based on, at least partially, beam usage indicators, and plans handover of a network access service for the set of aircrafts to selected satellite beams.
EFFECT: providing optimized use of network resources due to implementation of satellite beam handover based on predicted network conditions.
