SUBSTANCE: aerosol generating article 10 includes aerosol generating substrate rod 14, wherein aerosol generating substrate rod 14 comprises: aerosol generating film 24 containing at least 25 percent by weight of a polyhydric alcohol and at least 10 percent by weight of a cellulose-based film-forming agent. In this case, the aerosol-generating film is designed in such a way that the open surface area of the aerosol-generating film inside the aerosol-generating substrate is at least 5 square millimeters per milligram of aerosol-generating film. Aerosol generating film 24 has a tobacco content of less than 1 percent by weight.

EFFECT: ability to provide an aerosol generating article having an aerosol generating film with improved stability and a high aerosol generating agent content so that it can be successfully used as an aerosol generating substrate; less impact on the environment.
