SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to an aerosol generating system, an aerosol generating article for such a system, as well as a method of making an aerosol generating article. Aerosol-generating article (10; 110) comprises aerosol-generating substrate rod (12) extending from a near end of the rod to a far end of the rod upstream of the near end of the rod, wherein the aerosol-generating substrate contains at least an aerosol-forming substance and the aerosol-generating substance content of the aerosol-generating substrate is at least 10% in terms of dry weight, downstream section (14), which is located downstream relative to aerosol-generating substrate rod (12), and wrapper (70) surrounding at least the aerosol-generating substrate rod, wherein the wrapper comprises a base wrapping material having a basis dry weight, wherein at least processed portion (72) of the wrapper extending between the near end of the rod and the far end of the rod, contains an anti-inflammation composition containing one or more anti-inflammation compounds such that treated portion (72) of the wrapper has a total basis dry weight greater than the basis dry weight of the basic material for wrapping, and the treated portion contains at least 2 g of said one or more anti-ignition compounds per square meter of surface area of the treated portion. Treated part (72) contains at least approximately 2 g of one or more inflammable compounds per square meter of treated part surface area.

EFFECT: preventing charring/burning of the wrapper and the underlying aerosol-forming substrate and, as a result, increased aerosol delivery when the article is heated.
