FIELD: aerosol-generating systems.
SUBSTANCE: aerosol-generating system comprising: an aerosol-generating film (4) containing a cellulose-based film-forming agent, a non-cellulose-based thickener and a polyhydric alcohol; a heater unit (6) for heating the aerosol generating film (4) to generate a respirable aerosol; power unit; and a control circuit configured to control the supply of power from the power supply to the heating assembly in response to an inhalation by the user, wherein the control circuit is configured to activate the heater assembly (6) to sequentially heat different portions of the aerosol generating film (4) in response to successive breaths of the user. The aerosol-generating article contains: a support (2); and a plurality of spaced individual portions of an aerosol-generating film (4) disposed on the support (2), each spaced individual portion of an aerosol-generating film (4) containing a cellulose-based film-forming agent, a non-cellulose-based thickener, and a polyhydric alcohol.
