INTRAVENOUS CATHETER ASSEMBLY AND METHOD OF ITS PRODUCTION Russian patent published in 2024 - IPC A61M25/06 A61M39/06 A61M5/32

Abstract RU 2812002 C2

FIELD: medical equipment.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a needle-covering catheter assembly, activated, for example, by a Luer device, and to a method of producing such a catheter; more specifically, the invention relates to an intravenous catheter assembly and a method of its production. Intravenous catheter assembly (100) contains a catheter tube (104), a needle, valve (120), a skirt section (250), and a valve drive (122). The catheter tube (104) contains a cavity, an opening at the distal end, and a proximal end connected to the distal end of the catheter hub (102). The catheter sleeve (102) contains a catheter body with an outer surface and an inner surface defining an internal cavity containing at least one collar (173). The needle includes a needle tip at a distal end and a proximal end attached to a needle hub. The needle passes through the catheter hub (102) and through the catheter tube (104) and includes a needle tip protruding distally from an opening at the distal end in a ready-to-use position. The valve (120) contains a valve disc located in the internal cavity of the catheter sleeve (102). The valve disk includes at least one slot and at least two flaps (194), a proximally facing surface and a distally facing surface. The distally facing surface is in contact with at least one shoulder (173). The skirt portion (250) extending from the valve disk includes a wall with an outer surface and an inner surface defining the interior of the skirt, and a proximal end surface (290) of the skirt. The skirt portion (250) is in contact with the inner surface of the catheter sleeve (102). The valve drive (122) is located in the internal cavity of the catheter sleeve (102). The valve actuator (122) has a nose portion (150) at a distal end and a proximal portion located proximal to the nose portion (150). The nose portion (150) includes an opening for fluid flow and a drive end (180) at the most distal end of the nose portion (150), and the proximal portion has at least one gap for fluid flow through or through it. The valve actuator (122) is located in a proximal position in the internal cavity and is configured to slide to a distal position in the internal cavity when pressed by a medical instrument (200). The nose part (150) is located at least partially in the inner part of the skirt in a position ready for use. Two spaced apart thrust surfaces (295, 298) are located proximally from the drive end (180) of the valve actuator (122) and proximally from the proximal end surface (290) of the skirt in a ready-to-use position. The thrust surfaces (295, 298) are sized and shaped to abut the proximal end surface (290) of the skirt when the valve actuator (122) is in the distal position. The skirt portion (250) provides an axially directed force acting on the valve actuator (122) when stored energy is released onto the adjacent surfaces (295, 298) of the valve actuator (122) to return it to the proximal position. A method of production of an intravenous catheter assembly (100) comprises fastening the above described catheter tube (104), fastening the above described needle (108), placement of the above-described valve (120), extension of the above-described skirt section (250) from the valve disk (121), placement of the valve actuator (122) in the internal cavity (123) of the catheter sleeve (102).

EFFECT: obtaining an intravenous catheter assembly and a method of its production.
