SUBSTANCE: use of totarol as an active substance in an amount from 0.001 to 5 wt.pts for obtaining a drug for the treatment of inflammation of the vaginal mucosa of bacterial origin, for the symptomatic relief during such treatment and for the prevention of relapse of such inflammation, wherein this inflammation refers to anaerobic bacterial vaginosis (BV) and aerobic vaginitis (AV). The group of inventions also relates to a pharmaceutical composition for the treatment of inflammation of the vaginal mucosa of bacterial origin, for the symptomatic relief during such treatment and for the prevention of relapse of such inflammation, wherein this inflammation refers to anaerobic bacterial vaginosis (BV) and aerobic vaginitis (AV).

EFFECT: high therapeutic utility and safety, as well as high antibacterial effectiveness against bacteria that are the main cause of both BV and AV, without adverse effects on anaerobic bacteria of the genus Lactobacillus.
