FIELD: point-to-multipoint (PtMP) wireless communication system.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to point-to-multipoint (PtMP) wireless communication system. The PtMP wireless communication system includes a plurality of sectors, each of which includes a base station and a remote station(s). The overall system bandwidth is determined based on the contiguous bandwidth allocated to the system or one or more PLMR channels when the system is communicating in a private terrestrial radio band (PLMR) having one or more channels. The total bandwidth is divided into sub-channels, each of which has a fixed sub-channel bandwidth. Each sector is assigned a subset of the plurality of subchannels. A subchannel bitmap is created and populated for a plurality of subchannels specifying the availability of each subchannel for a specific sector, and the base stations of each sector can communicate on the subchannels assigned to at least one sector according to the respective populated subchannel bitmap.

EFFECT: increased throughput and reduced energy consumption.
