FIELD: automotive industry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of automobile vehicles, in particular to a method for determining the speed profile that the vehicle should follow. The method comprises the steps of obtaining event data including the distance to the event and the target speed at that event for the said vehicle, determining the speed profile to be followed by the vehicle as a function of the time between the initial speed and the target speed in three successive separate phases. In the first phase, the acceleration change is set to a constant equal to the predetermined maximum acceleration change value in order to achieve the optimal acceleration target value. In the second phase, the optimal target acceleration value is kept constant. In the third phase, the acceleration change is again set constant to achieve zero acceleration value at the end of the third phase, wherein the said optimal target acceleration value is such that the distance required to complete the three phases of the said profile is equal to the said distance to the event.

EFFECT: comfort of the vehicle driver during operation increases.
