FIELD: scientific instrument making.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used for the manufacture of micropoint conductive probing needles of a scanning tunnelling microscope. A device for manufacturing probing needles of a scanning tunnelling microscope comprises a guillotine, a workpiece made of platinum-iridium wire, a needle tip shape recorder, a cutting neck formation unit, a tip pulling unit with a displacement sensor, each of the units is connected in series with a corresponding amplifier, with a digital-to-analogue converter unit, and with a personal A computer, as well as a unit of adjustable current pulses, the output contacts of which are connected to the ends of the workpiece, and the input is connected to the output of an additionally introduced amplifier, the input of which is connected to a block of digital-to-analogue converters.
EFFECT: improved reproducibility of the parameters of the tips of probing needles manufactured by mechanical cutting of a wire blank, as well as reducing and adjusting the radius of this curvature.
