FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: stopper for controlling the movement of the stylet relative to the brachytherapy needle, comprising the following: a housing frame; a first connector on the housing frame for engaging a brachytherapy needle hub; a second connector on the body frame to engage the stylet sleeve so as to prevent movement of the stylet in both proximal and distal directions. A method of introducing radioactive grains into body tissue, in which: the following is provided: a needle with a radioactive grain in it, with a stylet inserted through the proximal end of the needle, and with a stopper holding the stylet sleeve in the first stylet connector, preventing both distal and proximal movement of the stylet relative to the needle; the tip of the needle is inserted into the tumour; the stylet sleeve is pushed from the first connector into the second connector, preventing distal movement of the stylet sleeve to an axial position of the stylet sleeve relative to the needle that is different from the position in the first connector; and the stopper is removed in such a way that the grain leaves the needle and remains inside the tumour.
