SUBSTANCE: proposed invention can be used in the field of ore processing wastes for ferrous metallurgy and relates to a method for dry magnetic separation of tailings from processing weakly magnetic ores, for example, tailings from dry magnetic separation of such ores as hematite, hydrohematite, martite, iron-trace martite, quartzite and others, which make deposits of natural and technogenic origin. Method for dry magnetic separation of tailings from magnetic separation of weakly magnetic ores includes staged dry magnetic separation of tailings of weakly magnetic ores, performed in separator drums, wherein after each stage magnetic product is extracted while nonmagnetic product is fed to next separation stage. Separation is performed in two or three stages. At the stage of magnetic separation, tails with particle size of not more than 5 mm are supplied. Magnetic field intensity is set at the first stage of dry magnetic separation in range of 0.2–0.4 T, and at the stage of dry magnetic separation after the first one — in range of 0.6–1.0 T. Rotation speed of the first drum of the separator is set in range of 10–30 rpm, at rotation speed of the second drum, which is equal to or not more than by 8 rpm less than the rotation speed of the first drum.

EFFECT: extraction of additional iron from tailings (wastes) of processing of weakly magnetic ores.
