FIELD: shipbuilding; offshore wind power plants.
SUBSTANCE: sailing power plant contains a catamaran that is symmetrical relative to the bow and stern, on which two masts are installed, and the impeller of a hydrogenerator is attached to the bottom of the catamaran hulls, connected by an electric cable to a rotating contact device mounted on a buoy secured with a weight on the seabed at the point where the cable is supplied from external consumer of electricity. The catamaran is equipped with a wind speed and direction sensor, an autopilot and an automatic control system for movement of the catamaran, including a stationary GPS receiver and a navigation computer. Each mast is attached by cables to the ends of the catamaran hulls, and between the masts a frame is attached made of a U-shaped profile, into which rigid sails are inserted, made of two plates connected together, fixed in the frame so that they can rotate around a vertical axis passing through the line their connections. Light slats are attached to the lower corners of the rigid sail plates on each side by movable joints, which are connected by cables to electric motors that are part of the sail position control systems.
EFFECT: improved efficiency of using kinetic wind energy by a sailing power plant is achieved by installing a system of rigid sails with a variable profile.
