FIELD: ships and other floating facilities.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of shipbuilding, renewable energy and marine research, in particular to monitoring of underwater objects. Sail power plant comprises a catamaran symmetrical relative to bow and stern, on which sails are installed with system of their angular position, and from below to hulls of catamaran there is an impeller of hydraulic generator. Catamaran is made with possibility of movement inside circle with diameter D, in which at any direction of wind catamaran moves on course of beam reach between waypoints T1 and T2, which are points of intersection of circle diameter with circumference limiting it. Power plant is used as a source of external power supply of an underwater drone connected to a hydrogenerator by a cable with neutral buoyancy and a cable with a cable wound on an electric winch, one end of which is connected to the wire system, and to the other end a weight is attached to fix the end of the cable with a cable in the area of monitoring the object of observation, the position of which is determined using a sonar. Catamaran vertical displacement circle centre passes through the observation object.
EFFECT: increased efficiency of using wind kinetic energy by sailing power plant by installation of system of rigid sails with variable profile.
