FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: ultrasonic waves, using a direct combined ultrasonic transducer, excite pulses of longitudinal ultrasonic vibrations in the product in the direction coinciding with the plane of the defect and receive ultrasonic vibrations reflected by the bottom surface of the product, calculate the ratio of the amplitudes of the ultrasonic longitudinal wave reflected from the bottom surface, passing through a vertically oriented plane defect, to the amplitude of the ultrasonic longitudinal wave reflected from the bottom surface and passing through the area without the defect. Before taking measurements, quartz ceramic products are impregnated with liquid and the sensitivity is adjusted so that the bottom echo signal passing through the area without defect, was from 90% to 100% of the flaw detector screen, and the measuring strobe was located at a height of 0% to 15% of the flaw detector screen, measurements are carried out using ultrasonic waves in the frequency range from 5 MHz to 20 MHz.
EFFECT: improved accuracy of measuring the height of vertically oriented planar defects in products made of quartz ceramics.
