SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method for predicting absolute methane content of an excavation site. Method includes determination of parameters of geometrical bedding of coal beds on mine allotment. It also includes the development of the workings outlining the section of the bed. Also, determination of methane content of coal beds, parameters of extraction site ventilation scheme. It also includes determination of the degree of unloading of adjacent coal beds from rock pressure, measurement of intensity of methane release from exposed surfaces of coal beds and coal broken at the face. Residual methane content of adjacent coal beds exposed to unloading action of mining face is additionally determined at mining section by degree of natural degassing of adjacent coal beds and coal broken at face. Specific intensity of methane release from exposed surfaces of coal beds in zones of their unloading from rock pressure is determined taking into account distance between adjacent coal beds and mined and speed of working face advance. Total absolute methane content of the excavated section is determined from the intensity of methane release from the exposed surfaces after the main roof rocks collapse and by dynamics of intensity of methane release from coal destroyed by combine, transported along mine workings within unified scheme of their ventilation.
EFFECT: determination of absolute methane-richness of an extraction area during development of a series of coal beds by a complex-mechanized face.
