FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to orthopaedic dentistry, and aims at determining the chewing efficacy of the dentoalveolar system in order to improve the quality of the orthopaedic treatment of the patients. Test material is prepared by manually mixing two base components of A-silicone impression mass until a homogeneous consistency is obtained. Test material is compacted into cylindrical cavities with diameter of 12 mm and depth of 6 mm of a plastic palette until its complete polymerization. Thereafter, the patient chews the test material in twenty chewing movements with simultaneous recording of the chewing time. Rectangular platform with thickness comparable to the maximum linear size of particles of the chewed impression mass is made from photopolymer resin. Particles of the chewed impression mass are dried and laid on the platform so that the distance between any two neighbouring particles is commensurate with the maximum linear size of a particle of the chewed impression mass. Digital 3D models of all particles of the chewed impression mass are obtained by 3D scanning of the platform with particles preliminarily oriented in space to determine the location of the upper edge of the platform and taking into account linear dimensions of only particles of the chewed impression mass. Particles with size of not less than 0.3 mm are distributed according to size classes, based on their size, and chewing capacity of dentoalveolar system is determined using computer software. Chewing efficacy of the patient’s dentoalveolar system is determined by comparing the chewing capacity of the dentoalveolar system with the average value of the chewing capacity of the dentoalveolar system of the preliminarily examined group of patients with completely intact dentitions.
EFFECT: by increasing the accuracy of evaluating the occlusal contacts of the dental arches regardless of the number of antagonist teeth and taking into account the size and volume of each individual chewed particle of the test portion, it enables to improve the quality of diagnosis and orthopaedic treatment of the patients.
