FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing inorganic materials — sulphides of alkaline elements and can be used in chemical industry. Method of producing calcium sulphide from phosphogypsum and crystalline citric acid as a reducing agent involves thermal treatment thereof in a reaction vessel at temperature of 800–900 °C for 60 minutes. Crystalline citric acid and phosphogypsum are loaded into the reaction vessel in layers, first, citric acid, then phosphogypsum, using a ratio of citric acid:phosphogypsum of 1:4.1–8.0.
EFFECT: reduced costs for production of calcium sulphide from phosphogypsum due to reduced amount of reducing agent, simple hardware design of process, use of safe reducing agent.
